Things White People Say Online After Getting Caught in Racism But Before Their Race Is Assured
—Race doesn’t matter in a racism discussion! If you think it does, then you’re just judging my words based on my race and that’s racist!
—You don’t know my race! Because you do?
—I’m not white, but I’m not a PoC, either, because I don’t think I qualify. I’m just a white-passing person from a country known for having white people, but not ALL the people here are white, therefore you can’t really tell.
—EXCUSE ME! How DARE you call me white! I am Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch, South African, Russian, British and Icelandic! White is an INSULT! Because, in your circles, it isn’t?
—I’m not white, I’m a peachy-pink color.
—I’m not white, I’m a (white) Jew.
—I’m not white, I’m a (white) Latin@.
—I’m not white, I’m a (white) Middle Easterner.
—I’m not white, white is considered West European, and I am East European.
—Anything else that involves not saying “I’m a PoC”. I know all of the minorities I surround myself with are constantly announcing their minority status.
In short: Being a national in a notoriously brown country doesn’t make you not white, having other white people hating you for some other reason doesn’t make you not white, and PoC, even dissenting ignorant ones, will 9999 times out of 10000 reveal that they are PoC in a racial discussion. lol

Actually I don’t have to prove anything, just-smith is the one who made the claim and it’s up for him to back it up. Anyone who’s taken courses in sociology, anthro, political science, etc knows this definition. If you can’t find support for that using the Google, I don’t know what your problem is. Maybe you’re just a sucky researcher.
Now, why don’t you get your racist bigoted douchefuck ass out of here until you’ve actually got something to say that’s got even a grain of truth inside, eh?
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
PS I’m white. Just not a white supremacist like you and buddy.
Dear, unlike you I don’t give a fuck about your race, only what you have to say because unlike you I’m not a racist.
I’m sorry. I stopped reading at this absurd and baseless thing you said because it was just so stupid I couldn’t bare to see how else you embarrassed yourself. I feel really bad for you. It’s just painful to see you humiliate yourself in public like this.

Suggestion for new holiday: International Ignore White Men Day
One day out of the year where humanity simply ignores every single word out said by white men.
Ron Paul spouting off about not helping hurricane victims because somehow it will get done without government. Seriously, this is as insulting as it is asinine. If a black guy or a brown skinned man said some stupid shit like that (without being a Republican token brown person), then he would be castigated and roundly mocked. Which, is the appropriate response to such a dumbfuck statement.
Instead, because it’s a white man, from the South, with money - he gets a fucking microphone and quoted in print & web media.
The planet has been run into the toilet by these self-righteous dimwits and nobody stops them to say “what kind of dumb fuck statement is that, Ron Paul?”
He’s far from the only example. He’s exactly what we hear day in and day out, on every channel, page and airwave. Let’s give the planet and our species a fighting chance for at least one day of the fucking year.
International Ignore White Men Day
Please. God damn.
I get the sentiment, but there are plenty of white men who don’t think or act anything like this. I think it sets a bad precedent when people who want fair and equal treatment decide to marginalise people of a certain sex or gender or race because they have an issue with the fact that they have held the majority of privileges for a very long time - especially when it’s instigated by one idiotic person.
Also, look around. White men are having a shit time right now. There is so much emphasis on racial/gender/sexual diversity in the workplace and schools (which is an excellent thing, don’t get me wrong), that there are organisations who hire based on race/sex/gender based on policies that exclude white men (in some cases even when they are better qualified for the job). My boyfriend couldn’t get a scholarship if his life depended on it because the funding is all given over to special scholarships designed for EVERYONE ELSE.
I believe in equality and fairness for everyone and do not believe in shutting out white males because they have enjoyed for centuries or are now enjoying a serious amount of privilege. Especially the ones who fight for the causes you hold so dearly.
Oh my god, what EVEN is this. I completely agree with pagana here. Blanket man-hating and discriminating against their skin color are a serious contribution to the scoffing and that rights movements face daily for being exclusionary (that’s just plain-ol de facto racism and sexism, although I’m told that it’s politically incorrect that white males can experience either of them - so let me clarify I am using definitional terminology here and not the institutional attributions) which people must constantly assert is not the case.
Furthermore, blaming or scapegoating an entire subset of people based on the actions of a minority of them should absolutely never be tolerated. To hold such a flippant view of any group of people like that is dangerous to the cause of equality and certainly makes more enemies than it gains supporters. Plenty of white males, although maybe not the center nor the focus of most minority rights movement, are often not only opposed to these kind of ultra-conservative views, but also a contributing factor of all types of equality rights groups that should never be erased or exclused like that. Damn. No. Just. No.
By the way, Ron Paul says dumb shit because he’s being an irrational human. Race nor gender has any factor in that whatsoever, and he will be castigated based on the incredulity of his remarks by people of all kinds regardless of the fact that he is a white male. To find fault instead with his personal attributes rather than the logical or economical fallacy of his argument is just simply an ad hominem attack that really does nothing to insinuate that he is in the wrong.
ETA - Simply ignoring a group never solves anything in politics. If nothing else, it gives them a reason to detest the opposing views and opens up a can of worms of blaming and context-twisting: “See, they’re ignoring us! They don’t want the truth to be heard. Your (unsupported, scoffed at, demeaned) views that we believe in have been ignored all your life, haven’t they — don’t you feel good being a part of us now?” Thereby strengthening the loyalty to the base.
translation:
“blahblahblahblahblahblahblahblahblah…white men are good…blahblahblahblah…what about the menz…blahblahblahblah…some white men do good things…blahblahblahblah….reverse racism! reverse racism!”
thanks for that. I’ll file it with similar replies of equal value.
I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
warnings: etymology, semantics, classification systems, sexism, binarism, imperialism, ableism, speciesism, privileged recentering, coercive “learning”
Anonymous said:
actually ‘man’ used to be neutral with modifiers for both ‘man’ and ‘woman’ (wyrman and wifman) so the ‘homo’ part of homo sapiens is not automatically problematic. ETYMOLOGY, LEARN IT
Uh no. It’s still problematic and reflects a system of classification (and etymologies!) designed by white imperialist cis men. Also that’s binarist (man and woman are the only options!) And the thing is, etymology is not a good excuse for problematic/oppressive language. Context matters. The word “man” as the default for expressing gender, personhood, etc, is very problematic.
And frankly, I don’t care at all at all at all about your white etymologies, and I don’t have much access to them, and it’s an incredibly imperialist and ableist thing to demand that I know of. It’s ableist to demand that anyone learn etymology (thereby assuming that anyone can!)
Also, there’s the whole thing about it translating to “wise man” since sapience means wisdom/intelligence which is ableist and not okay. And the speciesism in the idea of humans being so wise… wiser… than other species.
I really am sick of this constant semantical etymological “Oh but let me see if I can convince you that this language is not oppressive!” bigotry. Also, how about not demanding —coercively— that I learn something.
If you would like and are able to and have access to read something about the gendered and speciesist and otherwise oppressive nature of classification systems, there’s a book called “Nature’s Body” by Londa Schiebinger that might be useful.
Bolded for hilarity.
